What the Fuck? Redux

It’s been a beautiful autumn in New England. Above average temperatures, long stretches of sunny days, though the lack of rain – good and bad –has led to a brilliant display of fall colors.

I get up in the morning and shamble into my morning routine.

It all feels normal and belies the complete and utter travesty of convicted felon, sexual assaulter, twice impeached, election denier, coup inciter, document thief being elected over a former prosecutor, district attorney, attorney general, US senator and vice president. Who just happened to a woman. Of color.

This is closer to the way I feel.

I was lying in bed over the past couple of days, sleepless as usual, and domino effect of his reelection started going through my mind.

Project 2025. The blueprint created by the Heritage Foundation and some 140 trump sycophants lays out in lavender the dystopian future under a trump autocracy. Naturally, he denied its existence while campaigning, and MAGGIdiots claimed it was a right-wing concoction.

Women’s issues: Eliminating abortion access was the sole reason for conservative women who voted for trump. But they can’t get their noses out of our uteruses long enough to realize that birth control and IVF restrictions are on the table along with  implementation of the vintage Comstock Act. Oh, and they won’t mind having their periods and pregnancies tracked.

Deportation of immigrants: 11 million deportations is a truly horrendous and brutal undertaking. But then MAGGidiots will be lining up to pick vegetables, clean hotel rooms, climb the ladders for roofing jobs, and care for the elderly.

Jan. 6 pardons: All of those “patriots” who were peeing and shitting and desecrating the Capitol can apply for cabinet posts, or at minimum receive a stipend for “damages.”

DOJ/civil service: Anyone who isn’t loyal will be fired or be made miserable enough to quit.

Supreme Court appointments: More of the same political appointees who side with anyone who isn’t white, male, and Christian. Look for the overturn of same sex marriage and persecution of LGBTQ+ individuals, who really only want to use a bathroom to pee.

Threats to Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, plus the ACA: The orange jesus had years and to come up a “plan” (a hell of a long two weeks) and now he barely has a “concept.” Sycophants and those voting for him must be wealthy enough to get by without SS and Medicare in their dotage. Since Red states are experiencing an exodus of doctors (especially OB/GYNs), they’ll just sit in their trailers until they’re called “Home.”

Health and Human Services: RFK Jr.? Seriously? ‘Nuff said.

Department of Education: Its elimination would only confirm and accelerate the move toward idiocracy. Defunding public schools would go along with Oklahoma’s mandate for posting the 10 Commandments in school, book bans, and elimination of DEI education.Well, OK, that mandate was just struck down...

Immunity from all of his federal charges: Jack Smith is already wrapping up and trying to figure out the next steps. Ya think Aileen Cannon will be appointed to the Supreme Court? Hell, she can be any less qualified than Sister Amy.

Muzzling the media: That’s been a constant theme with threats to sue CBS because of fact checking and other transgressions and the “plan” to shut down all “liberal” media.

Appointments: As with the previous administration, we can be sure whomever is appointed will have an agenda counter to the agencies they will manage, but that’s fine as long as they’re willing to kiss his butt.

Cozying up to Elon Musk: With his influence and money in the later part of the campaign it would be safe to say he’ll become a shadow president. He even admitted there would be some economic pain.

Tariffs on all goods from abroad: More than a couple MAGGIdiots interviewed had no clue that trump’s tariffs would be expected to add $4K a year to a family’s expenditures.

Abroad

Threat to pull out of NATO: An ongoing mission since his first term because he claims those countries don’t pay their fair share.

Ukraine: He refuses to say what he would do, except that he wants “peace.” Given his cozy relationship with Putin we can only surmise.

Israel/Gaza: trump is also cozy with Netanyahu and promises “peace” there as well, as usual without a plan.

Relationships: Putin, Orban, Maduro, Erdogan, Xi, Kim are all on his BFF list, leaving our longtime allies justifiable frightened.

Theoretically, like a doobie journo, I should go back and dig up the links to everything I cited. As they say in horseshoes, it's close enough to piss off me and any thinking person.

I sobbed through Kamala Harris's gracious concession speech. Pundits are dissecting the campaign, of course, pointing fingers at why she lost the election. To wit, it was an extraordinary situation; perhaps it would have been different if the trump/Biden debate hadn't been a debacle. Regardless, Harris stepped in with solid experience and grace, and Democrats quickly mobilized in support of her.

Her loss was based on the sheer stupidity of those who chose criminality over competence.
