No Internet, No Phone: Trying to Find the Silver Lining
IImage from infendo.com
I was already majorly stressed out. A boatload of work,
including a project I really didn’t want to accept. Summer heat and a lack of
sleep. A newly retired husband underfoot. An ill kitty running up big-time vet
In "real life," I was the editor of two local newspapers that were unceremoniously axed by the Journal Register Corp. just before Christmas 2008, so I spent a year scouring job boards attempting to find a job that pays a living wage and freelancing. After almost six years at a small publishing company, I'm retired, sort of. When my bosses announced their retirement, I figured I'd quit the Day Job hassle. I'm keeping my eyeballs peeled, but I fear rampant age-ism. Of course, I'm still freelancing like any dutiful writer. I contribute to the Branford Eagle (an online newspaper) and anyone else who will have me.
However, my passion is cats. I've written about them for 20 years, and the writing has evolved into a small feline behavior consultation practice. I also give talks and classes on cat care.
Oh, and I'm really good at ranting, which is what this blog is about.
